The development project at Vitaminveien 6 is being carried out on behalf of Thon Gruppen, as an important step in the continued development of Storo and the Sagene district. The City of Oslo has identified Storo as a key urban development area, with the goal of transforming what was previously a business-dominated area into a district with more housing, new green spaces, and vibrant urban life. Today, the area is characterized by large buildings, shopping centers, and dark façades, with its former industrial uses still clearly visible.

The project at Vitaminveien 6 will help realize this urban development and continue the transformation of Storo into a modern, multifunctional neighborhood. The development consists of an office building with its main façade facing Vitaminveien, a residential section with an associated rooftop garden to the west, and a commercial base with outward-facing businesses along Nycoveien. The project aims to introduce new building typologies and materials to the area. The three different sections will be constructed using distinct materials and colors, each with its own harmonious architectural expression.

Currently, the area has limited green spaces, but the project will establish the new Vitamin Park. In addition, an upgrade of Vitaminveien is planned to better accommodate pedestrians and support urban development.

Office Building

The office building is located along Vitaminveien and will have a distinct architectural identity, with façades made of bronze-colored anodized aluminum combined with concrete or stone. The ground floor will include three retail units and a shared entrance for both commercial and office use. The six upper floors will be designed for office spaces, while basement level U1 will contain a retail unit as well as car and bicycle parking. Basement level U2 will primarily include parking, storage units, and technical rooms. The recessed top floor provides a refined termination to the building and helps reduce its perceived height.

Residential Building

The residential section at Vitaminveien 6 will consist of approximately 100 apartments of varying sizes, spread across seven floors. The façades are planned in beige brick, with variation and depth in color. The brick will be combined with wooden cladding in recessed balcony areas and at entrances. This combination of brick and light wood creates an aesthetically pleasing and durable expression.

The rooftop garden to the west is located on top of the commercial base and will appear as a sunny oasis within the neighborhood. All apartments will have views and balconies facing west, along with access to the rooftop garden with generous outdoor areas. The top floor of the residential building is also set back to provide an elegant finish and to allow for the creation of sheltered roof terraces.

Together, these design choices provide the conditions for a high quality of living in all apartments.

Commercial Spaces

The third building component, the commercial section, complements the office and residential buildings. It will include spaces for outward-facing businesses along the street intersecting Vitaminveien. The façade will be articulated with large windows, climbing plants, and designated areas for artwork. The brick color here is planned to be slightly darker than in the residential section, creating a harmonious palette.

With its central location at Storo and along Vitaminveien, Vitaminveien 6 will become an important landmark in the area. Its architecture will provide a much-needed contrast to the existing dark neighboring buildings. The ground floor facing Vitaminveien is designed to promote active urban life, and in the northwest corner, in accordance with zoning regulations, space is allocated for outward-facing commercial activity. The building will have a unique and distinctive character and will be a valuable addition to the vibrant Storo area.
