It is with great joy that we can share the news that Fredriksborg Eiendom chose to proceed with our solution proposal for Nygaardsgata 28-30, after the parallel assignment held in the autumn of 2023. The plan initiative has now been submitted to the municipality, and the plans for a new city block can finally be presented.

Fredriksborg Eiendom is a serious developer with ambitious plans for the project.

Himmelstredet will become a vibrant heart in downtown Fredrikstad: A high-quality city block that provides tailored and beautiful settings for public offerings, modern workplaces, and unique urban residences.

With a multifunctional content, appealing and varied architecture, as well as inviting urban spaces, the intention is to contribute to increased urban life, well-being, and activity in a part of the city that has already seen significant improvement through the establishment of the valued Nygaardsplassen.

The property has a very central location in the heart of Fredrikstad, but is currently only partially built with extensive ground parking. The plans for the construction of a worthy city block will therefore be an important part of an ongoing urban repair of the Nygaardskvartalene and the environment along the city’s main pedestrian street.

A high ground floor with outward-facing functions at ground level is being facilitated. A passage through the block connects an urban square to Nygaardsgata, linking the planned city park to the east. Two office floors connect the block in the second and third floors. Above this, stepped top floors are provided, accommodating attractive urban residences with generous rooftop terraces.

In the development of the project, we have allowed the building’s varied room program to be reflected in the facades and cultivated an architectural language that captures the essence of Fredrikstad’s identity, while at the same time bringing a fresh and modern touch.
