Wøyen Torg is part of an upcoming urban development in Vøyenenga, Bærum. The regulatory plan for the entire Vøyenenga area has been completed after thorough analysis of climate, flood issues, commercial areas, and traffic. Hille Melbye Architects were responsible for conducting site analysis, developing a concept plan, and creating the regulatory plan prior to the construction process.
The multipurpose building consists of a waterproof underground parking garage and sports storage rooms, shops, and a square on the ground floor level, and apartments and a garden on the 2nd to 4th floors. The retail floor covers 5200 square meters and includes technical rooms, a large grocery store, some smaller shops, and a cafe. The cafe has outdoor seating on the square facing southwest towards the existing nearby center.
The residential part have 75 apartments of various sizes, all with balconies. Nearly half of the apartments are designed with a lifetime standard. The apartments, distributed across 7 buildings, surround an inner garden above the retail spaces. Wøyen Torg has been given a modern expression, with the challenge being to scale down the volume of a large and complex building.
