Himmelstredet

Himmelstredet is set to become a vibrant heart in the center of Fredrikstad: a high-quality city ​​quarter that tailors to the beautiful surroundings for public offerings, modern workplaces, and unique city residences.

With a multifunctional content, appealing and varied architecture, as well as inviting urban spaces, the intention is to contribute to increased city life, well-being, and activity in a part of the city center that has already received a significant boost through the establishment of the valued Nygaardsplassen.

The property has a highly central location in the middle of Fredrikstad city center, but is currently only partially developed with extensive ground parking. The plans for the construction of a dignified city block will therefore be an important step in an ongoing urban repair of the Nygaards quarter and the environment along the city’s main pedestrian street.

A high ground floor with outward-facing functions on street level is being facilitated. A passage through the building connects an urban square to Nygaardsgata, linking it to the planned city park to the east.

Two office floors connect the building in the second and third floors. Above this, stepped top floors are provided to accommodate attractive city residences with generous rooftop terraces.

In the development of the project, we have allowed the varied room program of the building to be reflected in the facades and cultivated an architectural language that hits the core of Fredrikstad’s identity, while a fresh and modern approach also makes its mark.
