Meierihagen is an urban co-housing community located in the heart of the old town center of Askim. The development is organized in an open square around a courtyard where a communal garden house serves as the focal point of the project.
In addition to completing and reinforcing the square in the old part of Askim and creating a new and diverse residential offering with high architectural quality, the most remarkable aspect of the project is a provision we had included in the zoning regulations. This allows for the construction of a communal garden house of up to 80 m2 in the courtyard. The communal house can be incorporated into the Multi-Family Unit Area (MFUA) and therefore does not count towards the project’s density calculations. This is as long as the area contributes to community among residents, enhances the usability of outdoor spaces, and extends the outdoor season.
